Postmates is rarely ever the app of choice because competitors have dominated the market. Postmates used to be on top of the game but the competition quickly stole the spotlight.
As a team, we redesigned the app and developed 4 new features to create a space where users can be more friendly, bold, flexible, and exploratory. We are now in the age where customization and community are paramount to the daily lives of many.
UberEats, Grubhub, and DoorDash all have limited user profiles, menu customization, and a cluttered mix of cuisine and non-food items.
We conducted several empathy interviews to understand what users needed and wanted. As a result of these interviews we learned that users wanted more opportunities of customization and community.
We created four distinct personas that ranged in gender identity, age, ethnicity , occupation, and family background. These personas were the foundation of our new features.
We went through several sessions of group brainstorming how we may be able to bring back the fun and community to Postmates.
We organized the information we gathered from our empathy interviews and user personas to propose four new features to improve user experience and meet the needs defined in our research stage.
We created low fidelity wireframes for each user taskflow to simulate the possible individual experiences of each user with each new feature proposed.
